FAQ

We understand that investing in a new surface is a big decision. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we’re asked about resin-bound surfacing and our services at Devon Resin Solutions.

FAQ - Resin Driveway Services

What is resin-bound surfacing?

Resin-bound surfacing is a mixture of natural stone and a specialist resin. The two are blended together and laid evenly over a prepared base, creating a smooth, hard-wearing, and permeable surface that’s ideal for driveways, patios, paths, and more.

How long does a resin driveway last?

A properly installed resin-bound surface can last 20 years or more. We install all our surfaces to manufacturer specifications and offer a 25-year product warranty and a 5-year anti-crack guarantee for added peace of mind.

Is it suitable for driveways and heavy vehicles?

Yes – resin-bound surfacing is strong enough to handle the weight of cars and light commercial vehicles when laid correctly. We ensure proper ground preparation and base work to support long-term performance.

Is resin-bound surfacing permeable?

Yes. When installed over a suitable permeable base, resin-bound surfacing allows water to drain through, helping to reduce surface water and puddling. It is SUDs compliant, which can eliminate the need for planning permission in many cases.

Does it crack over time?

Resin-bound surfaces are flexible and resistant to cracking when installed on a stable base. We provide a 5-year anti-crack guarantee with every installation for your assurance.

Can resin be installed over my existing driveway?

In many cases, yes. If your current surface (e.g. concrete or tarmac) is structurally sound and free of major cracks or movement, we can install a resin overlay. We’ll assess this during your free site visit.

How long does the installation take?

Most domestic driveways take 1–3 days, depending on the size, condition of the base, and weather. We always aim to minimise disruption and leave the area clean and tidy.

What colours and finishes are available?

We offer a range of 33 resin colour blends, from natural earth tones to modern greys and whites. You’ll be able to choose a colour that complements your property perfectly. Edging options are also available to finish the look.

FAQ - Patio Installation

What’s the best material for my patio?

It depends on your style, budget, and how you use the space. Porcelain is sleek and low-maintenance, sandstone and limestone offer natural charm, and natural stone is perfect for a timeless, durable finish.

How long does a patio installation take?

Most patio projects take between 3–7 days, depending on the size, layout, and ground preparation needed.

Do you offer help with patio design?

Yes! We offer a full design and consultation service to help you choose the right layout, materials, and finishing touches for your outdoor space.

Are the materials slip-resistant?

Yes — especially porcelain and textured natural stones, which offer excellent grip even in wet weather. We’ll guide you to the safest options for your needs.

What maintenance is required?

Regular sweeping and occasional washing is usually all that’s needed. Porcelain is especially easy to clean, while natural stones may benefit from sealing every few years.
